The severe conditions and problems that face Africa are well documented. The
approach to that has been used in the past and currently maintained by many
organizations is to "Give a man a fish", in other words take care of the immediate
need, but ignore the root causes. The vision of this organization is to take
the mind set of "Teach a man to fish". We strongly believe that it is not the
primary responsibility of governments, beyond the local ones, to solve these
problems and provide "nation building". Politics, fraud, theft, and corruption
never meet the true needs of the sovereign peoples of their nations and waste
money and resources of the respective governments through mismanagement.
Our approach is unique in the fact that we do not setup a headquarters in
a region and start providing supplies and resources; to the contrary we partner
with the indigenous peoples and assist them in building their own nation, build
character, pride, self esteem and a vested interest in their community. (Read
the history of Dr. Alvin Smith for more)
This is accomplished by first partnering with the community through men and
women of integrity with 20 over years of loyalty honesty and faithfulness, and
who have already established a concern and working toward improving for their
community. Through these men and women, Into Africa provides clean drinking
water and sanitary conditions to reduce sickness and disease. We provide medical
support though our Lighthouse Medical Mission. Then we build schools to start
the education process. To support the community and maintain physical and spiritual
health we construct buildings to facilitate our teams to provide medical care
and churches for the community.
Lastly we seek to address the infrastructure and road systems that make travel
difficult at best. Our services are spread throughout many nations in Africa
and the need to transport supplies, medical teams and other resources is vital
to the development and support of these communities. Building roads is outside
of the task and scope of Into Africa and air travel in and around the country
is scarce and unreliable. Into Africa is looking for ways to tackle this problem
through establishing both fixed wing and rotor craft support primarily for Into
Africa but potentially in conjunction with organizations that support similar
missions.
Note:
In the event of a natural disaster Into Africa may open its doors to help
support short term emergency relief as an established non-profit organization
that is trusted. There are people in the world that seek to perpetrate fraudulent
acts and take advantage of the situation for selfish gain. You can always donate
to Into Africa knowing your donations are going where you want them.
